Meet Stewart
Stewart is the Founding Director of Regent Park Strategies and lives in Glasgow. After almost a decade as a senior frontline politician, serving as an MP in the UK Parliament, Stewart founded the company in 2024. He aims to use his skills, unique insight and experience to help his clients navigate today's increasingly complex world and achieve success.​
Stewart's story
Stewart McDonald served as a Member of the UK Parliament from 2015 - 2024. In that time, he held a number of parliamentary positions, most notably as his party's Defence Spokesman and member of the House of Commons Foreign Affairs Committee. Stewart also served as a member of the Transport Select Committee and the committees on standards and privileges.

During his time in parliament, Stewart championed and advocated many causes which saw him get involved with a number of parliamentary and policy groups. Stewart served as the Vice-Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Ukraine, which saw his longstanding advocacy result in him being awarded a Ukrainian state honour by President Zelensky. His work on Ukraine also saw Stewart named 'Best Scot at Westminster' in the 2022 Holyrood Magazine political awards, and again at The Herald political awards later that year.

Stewart's strong interest in defence, security and foreign policy also saw him become a founding member of the Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China (IPAC). IPAC is an international coalition of legislators from parliaments around the world concerned about the rise of China and what it means for domestic and foreign policy. Stewart was pleased to be a founding member of the UK Parliament group and he remain a member of IPAC's advisory council today.

Stewart also served as the Chair of the APPG on Drones and Modern Conflict, co-chaired the APPG on Blood Donations and remains a member of the Coalition for Secure Technology.

As a seasoned parliamentary debater with broadcast and print media experience, Stewart is used to communicating complex policy issues - whether domestic or geopolitical - and presenting them effectively to a public audience. His extensive experience in legislative scrutiny, policy development and as a front-bench spokesman has given him a unique understanding of how policy is made, how politicians think and what makes them tick. These are all things that he hopes to put to good use for his clients.
